Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 18 May 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Tellah ("we", "us", "our"), including the website at tellahstory.com and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
Tellah is a personalised AI story generation platform that lets you create illustrated, narrated stories featuring your own characters. We are operated by Tellah. Questions about these Terms can be sent to hello@tellahstory.com.
2. Eligibility & Account Registration
To create a Tellah account you must be at least 13 years old. Users aged 13–17 may create a standard account and use the Service independently. To subscribe to the Family plan you must be at least 18 years old.
By registering, you confirm that the information you provide — including your date of birth — is accurate and complete. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account.
Accounts may not be created on behalf of someone else without their consent, or for any automated or non-human purpose.
3. Family Accounts & Children
The Family plan allows an account holder ("Family Owner") to invite additional family members ("Family Members"). Family Members may include children under 18. By adding a child to a Family account, the Family Owner:
- Confirms they are the parent or legal guardian of that child;
- Accepts responsibility for that child's use of the Service;
- Acknowledges that they can set and manage age-appropriate content limits for that child;
- Agrees to supervise the child's use of any sharing or public-facing features.
We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to register independently without family account supervision. If we become aware that a child under 13 has registered without appropriate oversight, we will promptly remove the account.
4. AI-Generated Content
4.1 How it works
Tellah uses third-party AI services, including OpenAI, to generate story text and illustrations based on the prompts, characters, and settings you provide. The quality, accuracy, and suitability of AI-generated content can vary.
4.2 Your ownership
Stories and illustrations generated through your use of Tellah are provided for your personal, non-commercial enjoyment. To the extent any copyright subsists in AI-generated output, Tellah assigns any such rights it holds to you, subject to these Terms and the underlying policies of our AI providers.
4.3 Our limitations
We make no warranty that AI-generated content will be accurate, appropriate, or free from errors. You should review all generated content before sharing it, particularly content intended for children. We reserve the right to filter, moderate, or decline to generate content that violates our content policies.
4.4 Content you provide
By submitting characters, names, descriptions, or other content to generate stories, you grant Tellah a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not use your personal story content to train AI models.
5. Sharing & Public Stories
You may choose to make individual stories publicly shareable via a unique link or on our public story pages. By enabling sharing on a story you:
- Confirm the story does not contain personal information about real individuals that they would not wish to be public;
- Confirm the story is age-appropriate for its assigned reading age;
- Grant Tellah a non-exclusive licence to display that story on our platform and in promotional materials.
You can disable sharing on any story at any time. Disabling sharing removes the story from public-facing pages, though cached or indexed copies may persist briefly.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Generate content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or sexually explicit;
- Generate content that targets, endangers, or exploits children;
- Impersonate any person or entity;
- Attempt to circumvent any content filters, age gates, or security measures;
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or reproduce the Service or its outputs at scale;
- Use the Service for any commercial resale purpose without our written consent;
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules, without notice or refund.
7. Subscriptions & Billing
7.1 Plans
Tellah offers free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a monthly or annual basis as selected at checkout. Plan features and pricing are described on our pricing page and are subject to change with reasonable notice.
7.2 Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By subscribing you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. Tellah does not store your full card details. Your use of Stripe is subject to Stripe's own terms of service.
7.3 Renewals & cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time through your account billing page. On cancellation you retain access to paid features until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free plan.
7.4 Refunds
All subscription payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at hello@tellahstory.com within 14 days of the charge and we will review it.
Under UK and EU consumer law, you have a right to cancel within 14 days of your first purchase. However, by using the Service immediately after subscribing you acknowledge that the service has commenced and waive your right to a full cooling-off period refund to the extent permitted by law.
7.5 Price changes
We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any price increase. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
8. Intellectual Property
The Tellah name, logo, platform design, and all software underlying the Service are owned by or licensed to Tellah and are protected by intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use our trademarks or branding.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party providers including OpenAI (story and image generation) and Stripe (payments). Your use of these integrations is subject to those providers' own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will meet your expectations. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Tellah's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees paid by you to Tellah in the three months preceding the claim, or (b) £50. In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Account Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law, or if we cease operating the Service. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. On deletion, your personal data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify you by email or prominent notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
If you have a complaint about the Service, please contact us first at hello@tellahstory.com. We'll do our best to resolve it.
