Pipspot was a tiny spotted snail. His shell was brown, brown, brown. “I want a bright rainbow,” he whispered.
He found only muddy leaves. Oh dear! His feelers drooped low, low, low.
⁂
A friendly ant came tap tap tap. “Try red flower petals,” she said. They dipped them in a puddle. Splash went the red.
A bright blue beetle buzzed close. “Blue petals too!” he said. Blue and yellow swished. “Look, green!”
Pipspot whispered, swish, swish, shine. Red, yellow, green, and blue slid over his shell.
⁂
At last, Pipspot curled under a leaf. His rainbow shell gleamed softly. “Thank you,” he said. Drip drip. Sleep tight, little snail.
